Is Sound Healing Real?
Your Questions, answered!
Have you ever wondered,
What exactly is going on during a sound bath?
Is sound healing really a thing?
What's so special about those colorful bowls?
Today, I'm peeling back the layers. Are you ready to dive into this amazing world with me?
Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses the vibrations of instruments like singing bowls and gongs to promote well-being.
What exactly is going on during a sound bath?
These vibrations resonate with the body's energy centers, helping to release blockages, restore balance, and induce deep relaxation. By aligning the mind, body, and spirit, sound healing fosters a sense of peace and harmony. The benefits of sound healing are extensive and impactful.
At the core of sound healing is science. The vibrations of these instruments “entrain” or harmonize with the body and mind. Each cell in our bodies vibrate, and sometimes our systems our “out of sync”. Sound healing is a holistic way to bring our cells back into alignment and harmony.
During the sound bath, the frequency of the sound entrains our brain to a different brainwave state. During normal activity, our brains are in the Beta brainwave state, which operates in the range of 12-20 Hertz. But during a sound bath, our brain can shift into Alpha (8-12 Hz), Theta (4-7 Hz ) or Delta (0.5 - 4 Hz) brainwave states. In these states, we can experience REM sleep-like rest, a meditative experience, or even deeper rest.
It significantly reduces stress and anxiety, promoting inner calm and emotional well-being.
So, Is sound healing really a thing?
Physically, sound healing can lower blood pressure, improve sleep, and accelerate recovery from illness or injury. Mentally, it clears negative thought patterns and releases past traumas, enhancing clarity and purpose. Sound healing also fosters community and connection through group sessions known as sound baths. These gatherings amplify the healing effects, creating a powerful shared experience. Whether individually or in a group, sound healing offers a holistic approach to wellness, guiding us back to our natural state of balance and harmony.
What's so special about those colorful bowls?
There are many types of sound healing instruments, including different types of singing bowls. Crystal bowls are made of quartz crystal, and quartz is known as the “great amplifier”! How cool! But there is a special type of crystal singing bowl known as Alchemy singing bowls. Alchemy bowls are made with quartz crystal, but they are infused with other crystals, precious gemstones or metals and Earth elements. In this way, each Alchemy bowl carries it’s own specific intention and energy, which we can tap into during a sound healing. Jaime has a collection of 25 Alchemy bowls, all made by Crystal Tones in Utah! Watch her play some of her bowls in this Instagram post.
